Once a month, (the first Thursday of the month to be precise) Velocity opens its doors to ‘Poetry and Pints’ (from 7-9pm, to be even more precise).
Established by Jacob O’Sullivan, Camille Douglas, and Lorcan Mullen when they arrived in Inverness last September, anyone and everyone is invited to read their favourite poems, read their own work, play music, or to simply sit and revel in the creativity, over a BYOBottle, or any of the coffees, cakes and other tasty morsels that Velocity has on offer.
The warm atmosphere comes in no small part from the long communal table that seats most of the readers, and the welcome that Jacob, Camille and Lorcan extend to everyone who walks through Velocity’s doors, regardless of how confident (or frightened) they may look!
Over the year, the evening has grown from a small group of half a dozen to a whole community of artists that crowd into the cafe to support each other and enjoy each other’s company.
Poets, novelists, children’s authors, potters, painters and musicians all make up the eclectic mix that makes ‘Poetry and Pints’ an event that is fast proving itself a cornerstone of the Inverness creative scene.

See you there!
